The other night I had a dream that I was all alone in this post-apocalyptic town. Zombies roamed the streets at night and it was really very scary. Finally I said to myself, "Enough is enough!" And I decided to leave the town and find refuge.

Upon leaving the town, I found others—who like me—were trying to find a way out. Suddenly, out of no where this kitten lurches at me! It's so damn cute that I cannot bare to kill it, so I just throw it to the ground. It continues to jump on me and try to eat my flesh but instead, it's teeth are so little that it really just tickles.

A friend of mine works as a travel consultant. The other day, she was warned by a city worker that she must have a permit for her sandwich board that she had outside her shop.
She didn't argue but wondered why it was such an urgency. He told her that people died from sidewalk signs! "Even a kid died once!" He told her. She then laughed at him but the seriousness did not leave his face.

When she told me about this, I laughed as well. It seems so ridiculous. What will permits do? Prevent further deaths or pay for funeral expenses?

My friend discovered that there is a cat in Japan who is called the Super Station Master. It works at a train station and greets passengers who come into the station. The cat's name is Tama and you can read about it here on wiki.

This is my own station master. I illustrated it for my friend who now wants one.

This is Iain. He's musical and he's my husband. He's got a myspace page and you can listen to his music

Here is an illustration of my sister's three kids. Kelsey, Blake and Casey. Three very different ages and three very different personalities. Kelsey has the whole teen angst thing going while Blake is your average boy and is pretty happy go lucky. Casey, the youngest, is very cute and has long hair. My sister refuses to cut it short. She's terrified that he'll lose is big ringlet curls. *rolls eyes*

On October 15th of this week Creativity Block turned 2! What started out as a way to get over my creative blocks, has become my primary outlet for my illustrations.
Looking through old posts the other day, I came upon the very first that was published on Oct. 15, 2006. Many of the first posts were of me bitching and complaining about my job and the fact that I couldn't quite tap into my creativity. Well it has all changed and now I try to post regularly.

Anyway, all of that is behind me now as I try to tap into an illustration career.

I've always wanted to learn how to play the drums. I suppose someday I will do that.

I watched the english leaders debate last night and the french debate the night before and realized that if you were to hit Stephen Harpers hair with a hammer, that it would turn to dust.

This is my new Butler. His name is Chives.

Like every other kid, my fear was the Boogie Man. In order to keep us in line, parents and other adults would tell us to be careful—that the Boogie Man was going to get us if we went outside at night by ourselves. They did this of course out of fear that something would happen to us.

Well, I used to have nightmares about the Boogie Man. He slept standing up, beside my house, in the dark and would only wake up if I went outside.

Needless to say, I followed orders.

Singing Friday's praises!

It's amazing what a week or two can do. I had been feeling really uninspired lately but thanks to the fact that I have more work coming in, I was inspired to do an illustration for Friday. Not Illustration Friday. Just Friday. Happy Friday Everyone!

Monday's Monster

It's Monday and last week I had finished up a lot of work that I had on the go. I am still in the process of finishing some projects but they are currently in the hands of clients for changes, revisions, etc.

I thought I would start Monday off creatively by using a style that I have never used before; texturized shapes while throwing in a bit of depth here and there. Overall it's kind of flat, but I like it.

Me as a teenager

So much can happen in a year, and even more can happen in 10 years.
This was assigned by Dave. Check out his live journal.

I went to Beer & Beethoven on the weekend. It's an annual event hosted by Symphony Nova Scotia. It was a great time and I urinated frequently!

I always draw myself in a positive light. Perhaps this is because I am positive kind of girl. I thought that this time, I would do a creepy version and in monochrome style.

Boxes are fun!

So, I looooove boxes! Every box that comes into the apartment I try to horde—this is true. What for, you ask. Well... you can put things in boxes. No—it's true! I don't know what exactly. It'll come to me some day, I'm sure.

Why you shouldn't talk to strangers.

I don't know what the topic for Illustration Friday is today, but lets hope that this illustration relates in someway.
